It is just a number on the screen in fact it is 0% of the remaining of the download. The Windows store downloader don’t restart from the beginning when that happens. I noticed Killer Instinct and Cuphead chose to release Steam versions and the technical reviews are glowing. Games For Windows Live was poorly planned and executed, and so too is Windows Store. It’s fairly astounding that Microsoft, the company with huge overhead and who built the operating system Steam/Origin/Uplay use, cannot even match the basic minimum service required for digital game distribution. If Forza 7 was on Steam it’d be a 40-60gb download, not 95+gb

With Windows Store pausing resets most downloads to 0 and you download the game uncompressed. You can pause, resume, even go weeks with a game on paused download. With Steam/Origin/Uplay you will download a compressed game which will then unpack. Microsoft does not see this as an issue worth addressing. The same issue was present in Gears of War 4 and Forza Horizon 3 a year ago.

I attempted to download the game around 20-22 times and have used 80+ gb of data and in the end still had 0mb downloaded I got as far as 45gb, my internet was reset (they are upgrading the lines in the area) and it resumed at 0. But as soon as you pause the download or drop internet connection for a moment, it will resume the download at 0mb. It might fix the endless restarting of the download loop. Start - settings (cogwheel icon) - apps & features - store - advanced options - reset
